OUR SPEAKERS
Morten Goodwin-
Artificial Intelligence: A new era for animations
Artificial intelligence is breaking new ground in the animation industry. The technology now makes it possible to create images and short animated films that, to the untrained eye can hardly be distinguished from the real thing. And this is just the beginning. With rapid development, it’s easy to believe that soon everyone will be creating animated films from their home offices. However, that’s far from the truth, as the technology is expanding the boundaries of visual storytelling, and those who are part of the race will be the winners of tomorrow.
In his lecture, Morten Goodwin will explain how AI is transforming animation production. He will illuminate the techniques, discuss the strengths and weaknesses of AI-based animation, and envision what tomorrow’s AI tools will become. The introduction of AI undoubtedly marks a new and exciting epoch in animation work.
Theodor Groeneboom-
Colorless green ideas sleep furiously: Finding meaning in the upcoming AI world
Delving into the intersection of AI, machine learning, and visual effects, Groeneboom will focus on creative usage and predicting shifts in tool development and future technologies. We’ll get a greater understanding of the significance of open source contributions and the way they shape our industry, and most importantly; finding meaning in the process.
Jan Christian Frugård-
AI as the Director’s Tool
With over 20 years of experience in the film industry, Jan Christian Frugård will share his insights and demonstrate how he uses ChatGPT4, Midjourney, and his own bots to conceptualize and visualize projects in his work as a director.
This lecture will serve as an introduction to artificial intelligence in film production and will explore how AI technology can be applied in various stages of the production process. Jan Christian will particularly focus on how he uses AI to generate visual representations, enabling him to quickly and clearly communicate visual ideas to the team, thus accelerating the creative process alongside other creative professionals such as VFX artists, photographers, and production designers.
Johannes Skoog-
Virtual Production and AI: The Future of Filmmaking
Join us for a seminar where Johannes Skoog guides us into the transformative world of Virtual Production and demonstrates how AI can be used for many different things within virtual production. Johannes will cover the fundamentals of VP and discuss how AI-driven technologies can streamline your creative process. Gain insights from real-world case studies showcasing successful VP projects.
The seminar will conclude with a Q&A session, providing an opportunity to ask questions and gain valuable knowledge about the evolving synergy between Virtual Production and AI.
The seminar will consist of lectures from experts from Norway and abroad, as well as a panel discussion with stakeholders in the Norwegian industry aiming to shed light on trends, attitudes, and opportunities. The seminar will conclude with the presentation of the new Norwegian VFX Award, also organized by the Norwegian VFX Association.
The organizers have experience from various types of events, from smaller events and lectures held within the association to the large media conference &Action in Trøndelag.
The term artificial intelligence is everywhere in the media, and many wonder about the possibilities with this technology, but also what the threats might be. There is no doubt that AI-based tools can simplify and streamline some tasks in production, but can it also affect the quality of the production? What are the possibilities and what is good and effective use of the tools? How will it affect the individual?
